Our Mission

Oregon Pet Safe Plants was created to help pet parents in Oregon choose native plants that are safe to grow and enjoy around cats and dogs.

Our Approach

We cross-reference the ASPCA’s list of non-toxic plants with the Oregon native plant database maintained by OregonFlora.org, and highlight the species that appear on both lists. That overlap gives pet owners a starting point for landscaping and gardening choices that are both native to Oregon and generally considered pet-friendly.

A Note on Safety

This site is meant to be a helpful starting point for your own research, not a substitute for professional advice. Individual pets can react differently to the same plant, and plant identification can be tricky. Always double-check with a trusted source, such as your veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center, before introducing a new plant into a space shared with your pets.
